The classic suit is a timeless staple for formal occasions. But it would be a shame if it just gathered dust in everyday life. Here we'll show you how to easily and simply incorporate the different parts of a suit into your everyday wardrobe.
Wear the whole suit, but leave the shirt in the closet.
If you want to wear the whole suit to work or less formal occasions, you can use a classic trick to make your look a little less formal: Replace the classic white shirt with a plain T-shirt.
Choose a simple T-shirt that doesn't have any prints or logos. Opt for a T-shirt of a certain quality so it doesn't stand out too much from the suit. You can also save the pointed leather shoes for a party outfit and round off your everyday look with a pair of nice sneakers or Chelsea boots instead. A navy blue suit can be very stylish for an important meeting or simply for those days when you want to go the extra mile.
Combine it with a casual shirt
Once the party is over, the suit can also be worn for a relaxed, casual look. The trousers can be paired with a short-sleeved bowling shirt or a lapel collar shirt that hangs looser on the torso.
Here, you can also let the shirt hang outside the trousers. This will make your look look good but still have a casual touch. If that's too casual for you, you can opt for a long-sleeved shirt and perhaps wear it with the sleeves rolled up.
Wear a turtleneck as an alternative to a shirt
Your blazer jacket can be used as a transitional jacket for spring. Pair it with a dark blue or beige turtleneck and jeans to incorporate the jacket in a sophisticated yet casual way. Wear this outfit if you're going out to dinner and want to strike a balance between formal and informal. This way, you can arrive in style with a nice blazer jacket and remove the jacket later in the evening when the mood becomes more casual.
Suit trousers go with... almost everything
One of the best investments you can make when buying a suit is to have your trousers and jacket tailored to fit you perfectly. There are many reasons for this. One of them is that you want to have trousers that you can wear in countless ways after the party.
For a relaxed and comfortable day at the office, you can pair your dress trousers with a thin, cozy knit sweater or a long-sleeved T-shirt. Keep it simple and avoid large, bold prints.
Beyond that, you pretty much have free rein. A thin knit, dress trousers, and a simple pair of sneakers are both stylish and understated. This way, you can show off your dress trousers without looking stiff.
