From piano keys to club beats: Meet Jayce David Roberts
We recently caught up with Jayce David Roberts, a Copenhagen-based DJ and model whose life revolves around music and fashion. For Jayce, these passions aren't just hobbies—they're his livelihood. It all started with a deep-seated passion for the piano, a love that has propelled him into the dynamic world behind the DJ decks.
As we stepped into Jayce's intimate garage-studio, we were enveloped in a cozy, creative space filled with DJ equipment and shelves with vinyl records, which perfectly mirrors Jayce's dedication to his craft.
When Jayce performs at clubs or takes to the streets of Copenhagen to spin a set, his mission is clear: to seamlessly blend diverse musical influences into a fusion that taps into the crowd's energy. The goal? To keep everyone moving and thoroughly entertained.

What’s your name, occupation, and where do you live?
My name is Jayce David Roberts. I'm a DJ, and I do a bit of modeling as well. And I live in Copenhagen.
What impact has music had on your life?
I've always loved music and it’s had a big impact on my life. It all started when I was just a child - I loved playing the piano. It's like some kind of peace you find within yourself. You just learn to be a much calmer person when you are by the piano.
It actually makes you more intelligent and in many ways it gives you a better memory and stuff like that. I think it helps a lot musically as well, with the rhythm.
That's where it started - and my friends told me I have a very good taste in music and that I should be a DJ, so I was like, why not, you know?
So I've always had a passion for music in different types of ways. But now it's DJ’ing that interests me.

What genres of music are your favourite and has influenced your DJ’ing style?
I would say it's definitely Afrobeats, amapiano and hip hop, like old school and new school hip hop, that I love playing the most. I can play anything else, but that's what I enjoy playing the most.
What do you like about DJ’ing?
I would say the best thing about being a DJ - and I think many DJs would agree with me - is when you have a hyped crowd. That you can bring a vibe, create a vibe, that the crowd loves.
I think that’s a very good feeling, to see people enjoy your music. It's almost like being an artist, you know, but not singing; you’re an artist just in music, you know.
What do you think about when you are DJ'ing?
I would say I'm just a bit in my thoughts, but I always keep an eye on the crowd. After I spot the vibe and see how much people are dancing, I can quickly determine which type of music I should play.

I love always being on point with outfits and dressing as well as possible. I think that's important because you never know if you'll meet someone one day where your outfit could actually be an important factor.
- Jayce David Roberts
Does it matter to you to dress well for your work and everyday life?
Oh, yeah. Always. Always.
If you ask all my friends, they'll tell you I spend a lot of time on clothing. For example, if I have an appointment, they always make sure to tell me maybe an hour before because I'll take, like, an hour to get ready or something.
I love always being on point with outfits and dressing as well as possible. I think that's important because you never know if you'll meet someone one day where your outfit could actually be an important factor.
If you meet a person one day, just by looking at your outfit they might want to talk to you and give you a business deal or something. Or, you know, just have a conversation with you about something that could benefit you in the future.
If you could have one superpower, what would it be?
That's a good question. I will have to think about that one. Maybe, like, control time. Yeah. Control time because then I could have all the time in the world to visit any country I wanted to and go back in time to see what it was like living in the 1500s or something, and also see what the future would be like, you know, with flying cars and stuff like that.
How can we hear you play?
My friend Siggy Tommerup and I, our DJ company goes by the name Copenhagen DJ, and we'll be performing at various venues this summer. You can find our next gig here.
