Even though we wish summer could last forever, there is one good thing about fall: it’s the time to get out your warm knitwear and trousers. And there are just so many more cool ways to style your outfit when you can work with multiple layers.
The most important item for autumn is a jumper. Your summer T-shirts can still be worn as long as you have something with long sleeves to wear over it when the cold hits. The classic jumper for fall is the woolen pullover, but not everyone loves clothes with wool. If you’re one of them, just go for a cotton pullover. It may be slightly less warm, but also a bit less fragile and easier to wash. A cardigan is perfect if you don’t know if the weather will be warm or cold – you can zip it up for extra warmth and it is easy to take it off. A sweatshirt is also a must – if your office is casual, you can wear it here. If not, a sweatshirt is perfect paired with jeans for day with friends.
There are no rules for which trousers you can wear during autumn (but be careful with the white variety). Chinos can be used year round and they are always a winner because the design is so simple and elegant. After a warm summer, it’s also great to jump back into your jeans and go for an edgy styling.
When the weather gets colder, remember a light jacket. A quilted jacket is great for the transitional period. A leather jacket also works before it gets too cold. And the classic – the bomber jacket – which is perfect for fall.
